New Pkr Team Better Free From Traitors Says Party Leader
Anwar Ibrahim and Rafizi Ramli in a show of solidarity at the PKR congress held at the IDCC Shah Alam.SHAH ALAM: PKR has confirmed its new leadership line-up for the 2022-2025 term with a balanced group of leaders seen to be aligned to both party president Anwar Ibrahim and his new deputy, Rafizi Ramli.
“This is a line-up that will build a better PKR. The party will be free from traitors who were once in the party,” deputy election committee chairman Saiful Izham Ramli said after announcing the winners.
“I hope all of us (delegates) will return home with renewed hope that PKR will lead the country after the 15th general election (GE15).”
The PKR election in May saw two camps vie for power, one backing Rafizi and another supporting Anwar and secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The election results saw a combination of candidates from these two camps voted in to lead the country’s largest opposition party.
Of the four candidates elected as vice-presidents, Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari was seen to be aligned with Saifuddin, while Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun, Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang, and Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, were seen to be in Rafizi’s camp.
Meanwhile, the top posts for the party wings were won by candidates from Saifuddin’s camp with Adam Adli winning the PKR Youth chief post and Fadhlina Sidek becoming the new PKR Wanita chief.
Rafizi defeated Saifuddin for the deputy president’s post, while Anwar won the top post unchallenged.
The party has been seeking to quell dissatisfaction stemming from claims of fraud at the recent party polls, with analysts warning that failure to do so could lead to an exodus of members from the party.
In 2020, a PKR faction of 11 MPs led by then deputy president Azmin Ali joined forces with Bersatu, Barisan Nasional and PAS to topple the Pakatan Harapan government.
The full PKR leadership line-up is as follows:
