New Covid 19 Cases Four Imported Two From Workplace Screening

CORONAVIRUS | Malaysia today recorded six new Covid-19 cases, four of which were imported and two from local transmissions
Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said all six cases involved Malaysians
"The two local transmissions involve Malaysians from workplace screening
"One was from Kuala Lumpur and another from Selangor. No cases involving non-citizens were reported today," he said in a statement
The new infections put the cumulative cases at 8,674
He also reported that five Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospital, bringing the total recoveries to 8,481 or 97.8 percent of total cases
He said 72 people are still under treatment, of which two are in the intensive care unit (ICU) and need ventilators to breathe
The death toll remains unchanged at 121 or 1.39 percent of total cases
Noor Hisham said since April 3,  a total of 647 people returning to Malaysia have been found positive with Covid-19
The government had, since April 3, required all overseas returnee to undergo compulsory14-day isolation at quarantine stations
However, the government on June 10 shifted the procedure to home quarantine
Noor Hisham said to date, there were no reported cases of family members of people under quarantine at home being infected with Covid-19
He said this was a positive development that home quarantine was working
However, he stressed that this is still dependent on people undergoing home quarantine abiding by the standard operating procedures
"Therefore, the Health Ministry urged all travellers returning to Malaysia to continue cooperating with the Health Ministry and abide by the conditions set out in the Home Quarantine Order," he said
Noor Hisham also reiterated for Malaysians to avoid crowded places, confined spaces and close conversations which he referred to as the "3Cs", as a precaution against Covid-19
He also reminded Malaysians to wash their hands with soap, wear a face mask in public and heed warnings from the Health Ministry, referred to as the "3Ws"
