Netizens Rage Over Eo Revocation Without King S Consent
One social media user has described de facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan as Hang Jebat, who was known for his rebellion against the Sultan of Malacca at one time. (Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: Social media users were quick to react to the news that the government did not receive royal consent to revoke the emergency ordinances (EOs).
Many took to Twitter to unleash their fury, with the hashtag #KerajaanDerhaka trending online.
On Monday, law minister Takiyuddin Hassan told the Dewan Rakyat that the government had, on July 21, revoked all EOs under Article 153 of the Federal Constitution.
Several MPs asked whether the King had consented to the annulment but received no answers. The Palace today confirmed the revocation had not received royal assent.
One user @AchuNadia said: “It is clear. The Perikatan Nasional-led (PN) government has committed treason against the King! Daulat Tuanku.”
Another said: “Sesuka hati je. #KerajaanDerhaka This is violating the Federal Constitution.”
On a similar note, user @Shaike49 said the PN government was officially the “worst in history”, adding that the King had to call out their lies when Parliament was sitting.
Khairi Zulfadhli called out Takiyiddin and declared him as Hang Jebat (who was known to have gone against the Sultan of Melaka at one time).
“@Takiyuddin61 the real Hang Jebat. Directly derhaka (treason) the King and the people,” he said.
User @Hhfzn said: “@Takiyuddin61. I have a suggestion. Apologise and step down. The only action that you can take right now. #KerajaanDerhaka.”
However, Tajuddin Kamil said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin must also resign immediately, adding that Takiyuddin couldn’t have done it without Muhyiddin’s consent.
In a statement today, Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin had said the King had stressed that the law minister’s statement in Parliament on July 26 was inaccurate and had misled members of the Dewan Rakyat.
He said the King was aggrieved by Takiyuddin’s statement on Monday since he had yet to consent to the revocation. - FMT
