Negri Mb State Assembly To Meet In First Week Of August
Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan legislative assembly has been scheduled to meet in the first week of August, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
He said Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir has given his consent to the sitting.
“I had an audience with the state ruler yesterday (June 22) and His Royal Highness has given his consent. The session will be officially opened by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar,” he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri on Wednesday (June 23).
Aminuddin said the necessary notices and gazettes would be sent out as soon as possible to all assemblymen and other relevant parties to ensure the session proceeds smoothly.
Asked if the state government plans to hold a hybrid session, Aminuddin said all assemblymen would be required to be physically present.
“It will be a face-to-face session,” he said.
On June 17, Speaker Datuk Zulkefly Mohamad Omar said the state government will heed the advice of the King and the Malay Rulers and reconvene its legislative assembly which last met in December.
This, he said, was important to allow assemblymen to discuss and debate issues, particularly efforts taken by the state administration to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Equally important, Zulkefly said, was for all assemblymen to know how the rakyat’s money has been spent in recent months.
He said the reopening of the legislative assembly was also important as assemblymen would be able to ask questions on the Covid-19 immunisation plan in the state which has seen a surge in cases. - Star
