Najib Denies Us 120mil In His Account Came From Kwap Src

KUALA LUMPUR: Najib Razak has insisted that the sum of US$120 million which entered into his AmBank accounts did not come from Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) or SRC International Sdn Bhd.
Testifying under cross-examination in a civil suit brought by SRC, the former prime minister and finance minister said his defence team would establish this fact during submissions.
Asked by SRC’s lawyer, Lim Chee Wee, if he had documentary evidence to prove this, Najib said: “My defence team had studied and analysed my documents and concluded that the monies are not from KWAP or SRC. Your key witness Angela (Barkhouse) also indicated in her testimony that the monies are not from KWAP and SRC.

Since the documents are not in my possession, I will leave it to my lawyers during submissions to show that the monies are not from KWAP and SRC. 
Unconvinced by the answer, Lim persisted with the question.Lim: Can you show to His Lordship (the trial judge) any document that (proves) these three credits are not KWAP or SRC money
Najib: My lawyers will present (their submissions on the matter)
Lim: Do you have any documentary evidence as to the source of the US$120 million
Najib: I deny that the US$120 million came from SRC and KWAP, and my lawyers will (refer to) the documents during submissions. That’s my position
Lim: So you do not have in your possession documents to show the source of the US$120 million
Najib: We will prove it when our lawyers make their submissions
However, Najib’s testimony appeared to contradict testimony given by asset recovery specialist Barkhouse in March.
Barkhouse had testified that the sum of US$120 million which entered into Najib’s accounts originated from loans given by KWAP to SRC.
She said they entered Najib’s AmBank accounts in three tranches: US$70 million on Dec 29, 2011, and US$25 million each on March 12, 2012 and May 22, 2012.
Najib was testifying in a US$1.18 billion civil suit filed by SRC against him. The suit was filed in May 2021.
The trial before Justice Ahmad Fairuz Zainol Abidin continues tomorrow. - FMT
