Najib And Rosmah Plan To Sue Kepong Mp For Defamation

Former premier Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor intend to sue Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng for RM100 million over allegedly slanderous and defamatory remarks made by the latter
However, Lim has stated that he will establish his case in court and will not retract his statement or apologise to the couple
Malaysiakini has sighted a letter of demand sent by the couple's legal firm Azharudin & Associates, which mentioned that Lim had purportedly told the media in Parliament that the couple has a strong link to a private company which had allegedly obtained three special series of vehicle registration numbers from the Road Transport Department
The letter cited Lim's quotes from a Star TV Online video on Dec 3, 2018, with the title "MP questions 'special treatment' given to BN 'propaganda unit'."The law firm demanded that Lim make a full retraction and apology within seven days; provide a written assurance that he will not further make remarks of similar nature and content; and pay its clients’ cost and damages amounting to RM100 million
The Kepong MP said that the law firm had hand-delivered the letter of demand to his service centre yesterday, adding that he will establish his case in court
"I won't retract or apologise to the former prime minister and wife," Lim said in a press conference today."Of course I couldn't afford such astronomical sum (in cost and damages). I have no choice but to establish my case in the court of law in due course
"Just saying, do the couple need the RM100 million to pay for their bail money?" he added. -Mkini
