Na Imah Wants Suhakam To Probe Pmo Agc Macc For Abuse Of Power

Former finance minister Daim Zainuddin’s widow has lodged a complaint with Suhakam, urging it to investigate alleged institutional abuse of power.
The complaint was lodged by Na’imah Abdul Khalid against the Prime Minister’s Office, the Attorney-General’s Chambers, and the MACC.
“What is at stake goes beyond my family. It is about the integrity of our institutions, the rule of law, and the rights of every Malaysian,” she said after filing the complaint in Kuala Lumpur today.
“Without accountability, power becomes persecution, not protection. No citizen should feel that justice depends on political favour, or that state power can be used without oversight,” she said, adding that she did not expect to be a champion of such principles.
Her lawyers explained to the press that the complaint was a “last point of recourse”, in hopes that such alleged abuses would be addressed.
They want a hearing to determine the extent of the abuse of power.
Neither Na’imah nor the lawyers specified any specific incidents of abuse of power.
‘Investigate Bloomberg report’
However, her lawyer, Rajesh Nagarajan, also called on the police to pursue allegations in a Bloomberg article last year implicating Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and MACC chief Azam Baki of a conspiracy to target Daim and Dr Mahathir Mohamad with investigations.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and MACC chief commissioner Azam BakiThe article also cited sources claiming that Anwar had ordered Azam not to investigate the prime minister's former aide, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, over the latter’s purchase of shares in HeiTech Padu Bhd.
Authorities had classified a probe into the allegations as “no further action” in June.
Daim, who died last November, and Na’imah have been investigated over their former minister’s wealth.
They were both charged with the alleged failure to abide by MACC notices for the couple to disclose their assets. - Mkini
