In an open letter penned on his journey from Cordoba to Madrid, Mujahid said Nurul Izzah, as the puteri reformasi (princess of reform), is needed to be a guiding light for youths to form a better country
"You are the puteri reformasi for the new generation that will shape the new Malaysia. "They need their princess to guide them through the early steps towards what was dreamed by the founder of the Reformasi movement
"Don't retreat after walking thousands of steps, our journey is still long. The new Malaysia needs you," Mujahid wrote
Last week, Nurul Izzah made the shocking move to resign as PKR vice-president and Penang state party chief, citing the need to stay true to her personal beliefs
She has rebuffed calls for her to retract her resignation
A translated excerpt from Mujahid's lengthy letter is as follows:Dear Nurul Izzah,I only want what is best for your political future. I apologise that my letter was written in the open, but I feel that you are the puteri reformasi of the new generation that will shape the new Malaysia. They need their princess to guide them through the early steps towards what was dreamed by the founder of the Reformasi movement. Critics too want to test whether the puteri reformasi's resolve is still strong. Don't let this test become a reality, and don't let those who were not with us before determine the fate of the new Malaysia. We must do it together.You need not worry about the deluge of those who want to be in our Pakatan (coalition). We have an extensive framework which they must abide by, no matter which party they choose among us. We have this new Malaysia which we fought for together. The puteri reformasi must strengthen the new Malaysia to answer these concerns. Don't retreat after walking thousands of steps, our journey is still long. The new Malaysia needs you.Dear Nurul Izzah,Finally, accept my greeting from the heart which misses the new Malaysia without racial and religious hate, the new Malaysia which spilt its wealth for the meek, and the new Malaysia which birthed a new generation that is progressive and inclusive.
