Muhyiddin Rejects Tun M S Claim Of Stolen Bersatu Funds As Edited Video Sparks Row

BERSATU president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has strongly denied an allegation by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, circulating in a viral video, that he misappropriated party funds and kept the money at his home, calling the claim reckless, baseless and rooted purely in speculation.
In a statement, Muhyiddin emphasised that all party contributions are deposited into official Bersatu accounts managed transparently by the treasurer-general, and he has never taken any funds for personal use.
He added that Dr Mahathir never raised the matter with him privately despite numerous meetings between them.
“Because he also stole money. I know. It is the party’s money. Money was given to the party, but he did not surrender it to the party; instead, he kept it at his house,” Dr Mahathir was heard saying, but without directly mentioning any name.
Muhyiddin said he felt compelled to respond publicly to protect his reputation, but, out of respect for the former prime minister and support for Dr Mahathir’s Malay unity efforts, he will not pursue legal action.
Meanwhile, Johor Bersatu Youth revealed that the two-minute clip, recorded during a recent closed-door meeting with Dr Mahathir in Putrajaya, had been deliberately edited by unknown parties for political gain.
The youth wing’s chief, Alias Rasman, insisted Dr Mahathir was referring to someone else, not Muhyiddin, and vowed to take legal action against those responsible for the manipulation.
The edited video began spreading widely on WhatsApp and social media, intensifying internal tensions within the opposition party. — Focus Malaysia
