Muhyiddin Pn Ready To Accept Other Parties Or Form Cooperation For Ge16
Perikatan Nasional is open to forming an electoral pact with any political party willing to cooperate with the coalition ahead of the 16th general election.
Its chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin said such cooperation could be established either through official membership in PN or a loose electoral arrangement.
“If they’re interested, there are two ways. One, they can join PN and become a component party. We have four components (Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan, and MIPP). If all component parties agree, we can add new ones.
“An electoral pact means they’re not part of PN but work together with us. And if we agree, for instance, if they contest a particular seat, we won’t field a candidate there,” he told reporters after officiating the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) annual general assembly in Petaling Jaya today.
ADSHowever, Muhyiddin said he was unsure whether the interested parties had agreed to the proposal.
“Some have already submitted applications. I don’t need to name them. But we haven’t made any major decisions yet.
“I think once we establish a loose coalition, there may be more who are interested,” he said, adding that the final decision would not rest with him alone.
MIC and MCA
Previously, MIC was among the parties rumoured to be joining PN in GE16, as it had repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the unity government despite remaining a BN component.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man was also reported to have “sounded out” MCA and MIC about joining PN, noting that both parties are unrepresented in the government.
On Aug 18, Muhyiddin announced that 12 opposition parties agreed to form a loose coalition to champion issues they claim the Madani government had neglected, including unfulfilled reform promises.
The loose coalition comprises Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan, Pejuang, Muda, MIPP, Putra, Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa), PSM, Parti Kemajuan Malaysia (MAP), the National Indian Muslim Alliance Party (Iman), and Urimai.
12 Parliament seats for MIPP
Earlier today, Muhyiddin agreed in principle to allocate MIPP 12 parliamentary and 20 state seats to contest in the next election.

MIPP president P Punithan“Regarding what (MIPP president P) Punithan raised, they have requested that MIPP be allocated several seats.
“I’ve agreed in principle. But first, we’ll need to see when GE16 and the state elections will be held.
“Then we’ll sit down with the other component parties to discuss it,” he said. - Mkini
