Khairudin Rahim says he decided to ‘haul’ his former employer and current CEO to court after they failed to comply with a letter of demand.
Former Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia CEO Khairudin Rahim filed his suit at the Shah Alam sessions court.PETALING JAYA: A former Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) CEO has sued the industry’s leading body for defamation
In his suit filed at the Shah Alam sessions court yesterday, Khairudin Rahim also named 4As’ current CEO Andrew Lee as a defendant.
The suit was filed via his lawyer Thomas Phillip.
Khairudin said he decided to “haul” 4As and Lee to court after they failed to comply with a letter of demand issued on July 17, which among others, demanded a public apology and damages, in response to a press statement and memo issued by 4As.
In a statement, Khairudin also said he had demanded that 4As remove the offending content from its websites.
“This is about defending my honour and unblemished professional reputation earned over the past 50 years,” he said, in stating that he had no choice but to haul his former employer to court.
“I am firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.”
The press statement – dated May 30, 2025 and published on A4s website – contained “false, misleading and/or defamatory statements against him”, Khairudin said.
The memo, on the other hand, was issued and circulated to 4As members on June 16.
He claimed the memo and press statement implied that he had refused to continue as 4As CEO and had lied about being interviewed by the association’s council prior to his appointment in 2015.
The memo and press statement also implied he was dishonest and not a trustworthy person, he said.
Khairudin claimed these statements had significantly damaged his credibility and reputation in the advertising industry. - FMT
