Muhyiddin Denies Involvement In Kg Sg Baru Land Acquisition
Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin denied involvement in the land acquisition at Kampung Sungai Baru, Kuala Lumpur when the coalition was in power.
The former premier instead claimed to have been slandered by certain parties who alleged his involvement in the decision which has since sparked an ongoing land dispute.
“The decision regarding the land acquisition made under the Land Acquisition Act 1960 did not involve me as the prime minister at the time.
“Instead, it went through the process under the Land Acquisition Act 1960, where the Federal Territory land authority made the decision,” said the Bersatu president.
“If the land acquisition was not carried out in accordance with the law, the court may determine the rights of the affected parties,” Muhyiddin (above) added.

In a statement today, Muhyiddin did not name parties who had allegedly made the claims against him.
Land grab issue
On Thursday, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said he believed that parties involved in the land acquisition at Kampung Sungai Baru, Kuala Lumpur when PN was in power should explain themselves to affected residents.
This came after residents claimed cabinet ministers from PN sided with the land developer instead of land owners during compensation negotiations.
Tuan Ibrahim was among 23 opposition representatives who attended a briefing session with Kampung Sungai Baru residents affected by the land grab.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan ManDuring the meeting, Kampung Sungai Baru pro-tem committee chairperson Zainab Alias claimed that several former ministers and MPs sided with the developer - including Annuar Musa, Shahidan Kassim, and then-Titiwangsa MP Rina Harun.
Previously, Malaysiakini reported that some Kampung Sungai Baru residents refused to relocate not because of compensation but to protect their family heritage homes. - Mkini
