Muda Out To Raise Rm1 Million From Public For Polls Campaign

Treasurer Tarmizi Anuwar said the public will be more involved in the political process through the initiative and will be able to hold Muda accountable for its spending.
“Each donor is limited to contributions of RM200,000, and the money will be transferred into the Muda bank account or to a candidate that the party has selected,” he said during the launch today.
He added that raising funds for the Johor elections will serve as a platform to enact a Political Financing Act which has been passed in most developed nations.

“With this law, political parties’ funds will be better regulated to prevent misappropriation and corruption,” he said.
Tarmizi also said that “100%” of the amount spent for the Johor elections will be detailed and made available to the public.
Secretary-general Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, who will be contesting in Puteri Wangsa, said these donations were imperative to the party’s success in the coming state elections.
“The money will be used for campaign materials, logistics and for us to conduct hybrid campaigns (online and on the ground) to ensure we comply with Covid-19 SOPs,” she said.
In a recorded video, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said before Sapot Muda was launched, the party had already received RM100,000 from 1,800 donors.
“We will continue this effort to ensure Muda has a place in Johor to fight for everyone’s future,” he said.
The funding campaign will run until Feb 28. - FMT
