Muda Denies Being Part Of Pn Roadshow
Muda secretary-general Amir Hadi said the party had never made any decision on taking part in the PN roadshow.PETALING JAYA: The youth party Muda has denied that it would be involved in a nationwide roadshow to be organised by the opposition coalition of Perikatan Nasional.
The denial came in response to an announcement by PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin that former Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had agreed to take part in the roadshow.
Syed Saddiq, a founder of Muda, was its president until November last year, when he stepped down following his conviction on a corruption charge. He is appealing against his conviction.
This evening, Muda secretary-general Amir Hadi posted on X, formerly Twitter, that the matter of taking part in the PN roadshow had never been discussed by the party’s executive council or any decision to take part ever taken.
Earlier today, Muhyiddin said PN had agreed to hold a nationwide tour after the fasting month to highlight the various issues faced by the people and what PN can do.
“Many, including Syed Saddiq from Muda, have suggested we do this, and he is ready to participate,” Muhyiddin said.
As Muar MP, Syed Saddiq withdrew support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government in September last year following the discharge not amounting to an acquittal granted to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during his trial on corruption charges.
Syed Saddiq now sits on the opposition bench in the Dewan Rakyat. - FMT
