Motorist Cries Foul After Her Car Is Clamped For Crooked Parking At Republik Ttdi

FRESH from allegations of extortion at Kajang Hospital carpark, another irate motorist has cried foul over what is perceived to be heavy-handed enforcement of clamping.

This time it is at the swish and rather posh environment of commercial centre Republik TTDI. Unlike in Kajang Hospital where visitors had to “pay” an unofficial RM50 non-clamping fee imposed by the security guard, this was very much at the behest of the parking site’s management.
According to Att Yusof (@attyusof), she had parked slightly crooked as the car in the next bay was protruding, hence not allowing her to enter the bay properly. She was also in a rush as she was taking her sick child to visit the clinic.
So imagine her frustration to find her car clamped when she returned. The telephone number provided by the parking attendant was of little avail as there was no answer.
The parking attendant had also claimed that he did not wish to clamp the complainant’s car but was instructed to do so by his superior.

The poster further argued that she was not in any way inconveniencing anyone as it was in a corner bay nor was her vehicle blocking anyone else’s.

She could not hide her anger and frustration when providing an update. Her husband had come to argue on her behalf but it was to no avail.
She even claimed that the parking attendants informed her this was nothing new and that they themselves have had to pay the fine from out of their own pockets as the situation had escalated beyond control.
She wondered what channels were available to her to make official complaints as it was on private property.
Lastly, she paid the fine but vowed never to patronise Republik TTDI again. In so doing, she urged fellow netizen to make her post go viral to teach the management a lesson, perhaps, in customer relations.

The poster concluded by saying that it was unfathomable to be clamped for having barely half a tyre outside the boundary. Furthermore, she had parked away from the side which had another vehicle to facilitate taking the baby out of the baby seat.

One netizen argued that since it was private property, it was parking management’s rules that counted and whether they had empathy with the poster’s situation. However, he did ask the poster if she did learn to park properly when taking driving lessons.

The accusation that the poster had “bought” her license was repeated, underlining that not everybody sympathised with her.

Some netizens did side with the poster with one contending that her parking manoeuvre was of no consequence to anyone as it did not hinder other vehicles. Furthermore, she had parked in such a manner due to the car in the next bay.

Another urged the poster to take her issue to court to dissuade the parking management from “bullying others”. It was pointed out again that the poster’s car was NOT hindering other vehicles,

Some reckoned that it was imperative to have dashcam footage to show that the car next to the poster’s was protruding hence necessitating her own crooked parking.

So, is the poster right for venting her anger since her car was in the corner parking lot and was not hindering others? Was the parking management being overzealous?
Or is it just a case of simply abiding to the rule which is to park inside the box? – Focus Malaysia
