CORONAVIRUS | The Health Ministry has recorded one case of a pregnant woman who tested positive with Covid-19 with her baby who was also detected with the virus, two weeks after delivery
However, according to Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, they have yet to establish whether the infection happened during the pregnancy or otherwise
"On the question about pregnant mother (tested positive with Covid-19), we did have a case where a newborn was tested positive 18 days after delivery," he told a press conference in Putrajaya today
"We are not sure yet (on how the infection happened)," he added, when asked whether the infant had contracted Covid-19 prenatal
However, according to Noor Hisham, there was no complication during the delivery process although the mother was positive with the virus
He did not elaborate further on where and when the case happened

He said there are three main factors that could cause blockage in a patient's blood vessel and lead to a stroke
"Covid-19 has two phases, one is infectivity and second is inflammation. So, we know that when the virus enters the blood vessel, it can cause three factors that would compromises the blood flow
"First, when inflammation happens, it can thicken the blood and thus make it easier to clot. Second, the virus would attack the wall of a patient's blood vessel causing injury and thrombosis
"And third, those who have other conditions like obesity and such, when they are treated in hospital without having much body movement, the blood flow would also become slow
"These three factors would affect the blood flow, and if blockage happens in a blood vessel in the head, it would cause a stroke. And if it happens in the heart, it would cause heart complications like a heart attack," he said. - Mkini
