More Expected To Sign Up For Second Edition Of Larian Keluarga Malaysia

The first Larian Keluarga Malaysia, held last year, saw some 5,000 participants.PETALING JAYA: The second edition of Larian Keluarga Malaysia (LKM) is expected to draw even more participants as the race, scheduled on Nov 15, will be held in Kuala Lumpur
Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia chairman Ismail Sabri Yaakob said last year’s turnout for the inaugural LKM has given them hope that they could record a larger number of participants this time round.
About 5,000 people, including former Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming of DAP, took part in the race in 2024.

“This year, we are organising it at Padang Merbok. Because the venue is more accessible compared to Cyberjaya (where the race was held last year), I expect more people to turn up.
“However, our target remains 3,000 participants,” the former prime minister told FMT.
FMT is the official media partner for LKM.
The race is divided into three categories: the 3km Family Run, Fun Run (5km), and Road Race (10km). Registration fees range between RM40 and RM70 for those who sign up before Sept 30.

Each participant will receive a bag, an official t-shirt, a participation medal as well as a chance to win lucky draw prizes, which will be announced on the day of the competition.
Ismail, however, was mum on the main lucky draw prize.
“It’s a secret. Just wait and see. Last year, the main prize was a Perodua Axia,” he said.
He said the initiative is aimed at collecting funds to help some 1,000 orphans who lost their parents to the Covid-19 pandemic and are now under the foundation’s care.
The proceeds will be used to provide a RM200 monthly aid for orphans aged 15 and below, while those aged 16 and above will receive RM250 a month until they obtain their first degree.
“We don’t want to solely depend on the RM5 million provided by the government. So this run is organised with the aim of collecting funds.
“But, more importantly, this run is to raise awareness among corporations to provide for orphans either through donations or by registering their employees for this run,” he said.
