Mmc Final Year Transcripts Accepted For Housemanship Pre Employment Letter

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) has decided to extend the letter confirming registration eligibility to medical graduates, if they can show the last transcript of their results from their respective universities
MMC president Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said that the transcript must be signed by the university's president, senate, rector, or alternatively, by its registrar
He said that letter was for medical graduates to submit to the Public Service Commission (SPA) to apply for their housemanship
He added in a statement on Wednesday (July 24) that the criteria would be similar to that laid down in the Medical Act 1971.

"When the criteria is met, the letter confirming eligibility with a serial number will be given by the MMC to the medical graduate concerned, and this can be used for the registration/application online through SPA8i with the SPA," he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said this was in response to several medical graduates who have complained to MMC that they did not receive the letter confirming their registration eligibility from the council.This letter is needed for medical graduates when they apply for their housemanship
He said that normally, a graduate needs to show their original medical degree from the university or medical college approved by MMC to get their letter
Dr Noor Hisham said that once the graduate shows their documentations, the MMC will issue the letter to the applicant for them to apply for housemanship with the SPA
Candidates who had been offered the appointment without the documents were advised to get them from their universities or medical colleges as soon as possible and send them to MMC
"The medical graduate does not have to worry, as the appointment offer as a house officer is not cancelled and appointments will continue to be made for the incoming group, which is done once every two months," he said
Dr Noor Hisham added that a letter issued by the Dean of the university's Faculty of Medicine will not be accepted, and also said that there are no changes for the process for applying for housemanship. - Star
