Mipp To Send Jalur Gemilang Badges To Ministry After Flag Blunder

The Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) will send Jalur Gemilang badges to the Education Ministry (MOE) to prevent any further flag blunders.
ADSParty deputy president S Subramaniam said this was because of the ministry’s mistakes on the national flag in its SPM Analysis Report.
“After what happened today, I see that MOE staff need the Jalur Gemilang badges more than school students.
“...As far as I know, school students have never made a mistake in drawing the Jalur Gemilang. However, at MOE, there is still a problem with the Jalur Gemilang’s design.
“So, we are ready to distribute Jalur Gemilang badges to MOE employees for free,” Subramaniam (above) told Malaysiakini.
Earlier today, the Education Ministry apologised for the errors on national flags in its SPM analysis report, which were generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
The recent controversy on Jalur Gemilang mistakes began last week, when Sin Chew Daily published an incomplete illustration of the Jalur Gemilang on its front page in conjunction with coverage of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Malaysia.
Shortly after, an event organiser apologised after a promotional video by a Singaporean exhibitor showed an incomplete Jalur Gemilang at the TCE Baby Expo held at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
‘Will Anwar take responsibility?’
Commenting further, Subramaniam said the badges will also be distributed to the ministry’s top management, including its minister, Fadhlina Sidek.
“We will hand over the badges this Wednesday (April 30) after the cabinet meeting at the MOE office in Putrajaya,” he said.
He believed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim would not suspend Fadhlina until the Education Ministry’s investigation was complete.
ADS“I’m not from the media. But I believe in the case of Sin Chew, the editor took full responsibility.
“Does Anwar dare to do that? I don’t believe it,” Subramaniam said.
In its apology, the ministry said it is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, while immediate action has been taken against everyone involved.
After Sin Chew’s flag blunder, the Chinese-language daily suspended two of its editors, who were also detained by the police to assist investigations into the matter.
The issue is also being investigated by the Home Ministry and the MCMC for alleged offences under Section 3(1)(c) of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1963 and Section 4(1)(b) of the Printing Presses and Publication Act (PPPA) 1984.
Another Chinese-language daily Kwong Wah Yit Poh is facing a similar investigation after publishing a picture of an electronic billboard, where the national flag’s crescent moon was obscured by a headline. - Mkini
