Ministry S Statement On Agencies Misleading Says Bangladesh High Commission
The Bangladesh High Commission said the MoU stipulated that Putrajaya would automatically select the recruitment companies responsible for bringing in Bangladeshi workers. (Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: The Bangladesh High Commission says the human resources ministry’s statement on the selection of recruitment agencies (BRA) from Bangladesh is misleading and factually incorrect.
In a Facebook post, the commission clarified that the selection and verification of these companies was not their responsibility “whatsoever”.
The commission pointed out that the memorandum of understanding (MoU), between Malaysia and Bangladesh, stated that Malaysia’s government would automatically select BRAs through an online system, from a list provided by the Bangladesh government.
“It may be noted here that the Bangladeshi government has already handed over a list of 1,520 valid BRAs to the government of Malaysia.”

The commission added that when rendering attestations, it reviewed Malaysian companies (that applied for Bangladeshi workers) with strict adherence to the guidelines of the MoU.
Earlier today, the human resources ministry issued a statement stating that issues affecting the recruitment process of foreign labour from Bangladesh had been resolved.
“The Bangladesh High Commission has completed the verification process of 15 recruitment companies, involving 2,000 prospective workers,” the ministry said.
It said the recruitment process was expected to be expedited in the coming weeks, and the entry of workers would be subject to health screenings and other requirements under the immigration department.
