Minister Reassures Public Of Govt S Seriousness In Addressing Cost Of Living Crisis

THE government is actively working to address the cost of living crisis and is not leaving the people to struggle alone.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, emphasised that rising prices are a global issue but assured that both federal and state governments are committed to finding solutions.
He noted that this is one of the high-risk challenges faced by societies worldwide today, as they struggle with rising prices and other economic pressures.
“However, at the same time, the government is not leaving the people to deal with supply and demand issues and rising prices on their own,” he said.
“We are constantly looking for solutions, whether through mitigation programs or intervention initiatives, to help address cost of living issues and reduce the people’s burden,” Armizan said.
Programs such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) at the federal level, along with Sentuhan Kasih Rakyat (SYUKUR) at the state level, provide financial aid to those in need.
Under SYUKUR, e-Kasih-listed household heads receive RM300 per month, with a total state allocation of RM358.5 mil.
Armizan also addressed criticisms of aid distribution, stating, “We start by helping those who truly need it—households earning below RM2,500 per month.”
He urged people to appreciate the assistance rather than politicise it, adding, “If people try to politicise the issue by questioning why some receive aid and others don’t, my response is simple, ask them what they have provided.”— Focus Malaysia
