Minister Encourages Malaysians To Take Palm Oil Vitamin E

PARLIAMENT | Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali is encouraging Malaysians to take vitamin E supplements made from palm oil
He said this after Salim Sharif (BN-Jempol) took a jab at the spoonful of red palm oil campaign that was promoted by the previous minister Teresa Kok
"What is encouraged is a spoonful of red palm oil. But what is even more encouraged is vitamin E from palm oil, (α-) tocotrienol
"This should be taken by Malaysians, and I have distributed this for free to all MPs, this is for health," Khairuddin (above) told the Dewan Rakyat today
BN and PAS had previously ridiculed Kok for her spoonful of red palm oil campaign
However, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board last week reaffirmed that this was a good practice, saying red palm oil was high in benefits
Meanwhile, Kok (Harapan-Seputeh) had earlier questioned whether the government's aim to achieve between RM65-RM75 billion in palm oil exports was attainable if the intake of foreign workers was curbed
Teresa Kok She said that Malaysians were not interested in working as labourers in oil palm plantations regardless of the salary
Khairuddin, however, said this was negative thinking by his predecessor
"When I heard Seputeh's remarks, it gives the impression as though she doesn't support efforts to increase the number of locals working in plantations compared to migrants
"The excuse that they are not interested is a subjective matter which needs a campaign (to encourage locals to work in plantations)," he said
He added the aim was to slowly phase out migrant workers and replace them with locals
He said, for now, there was only a freeze on new migrant hires and that those already employed could keep their jobs. - Mkini
