MMA is happy that the issue of the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontliners is being addressed by the health ministry.PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Medical Association has backed the government’s decision to extend the movement control order (MCO), saying it is in the “best interests of all Malaysians”
In a statement, the association’s president Dr N Ganabaskaran said they also agreed with Putrajaya’s decision to allow certain sectors to resume operations under strict conditions and guidelines from the health ministry and other relevant ministries
Earlier today, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the MCO to curb the spread of Covid-19 will be extended to April 28, in line with the World Health Organization’s view against lifting the MCO too early
Some industries and services will also be allowed to operate, subject to strict conditions
“We also wish to note that looking at the reported data on Covid-19 cases in the country, the health ministry has done well with the measures taken to contain the spread of infections,” said Ganabaskaran
“The MCO has been effective in bringing down the contagiousness to 1%, as mentioned by our health director-general,” he said, adding there has been some progress in flattening the curve
Ganabaskaran said MMA was also happy that the issue of the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontliners is being addressed
“We appeal to the public to give their full support to the health ministry by fully complying with the MCO by following the guidelines from the ministry.” - FMT
