Mcmc Probing Mca Youth Leader Over Ura Video
The MCMC has initiated an investigation into Pahang MCA Youth chief Wong Siew Mun over a social media video regarding the controversial Urban Renewal Bill.
MCA president Wee Ka Siong said an MCMC investigating officer contacted Wong at 10.16pm yesterday.
Wee noted that during the conversation, the commission’s officer had summoned Wong (above) for questioning at its headquarters in Cyberjaya at 11.30am today.
“I understand that (Wong) did ask the MCMC investigating officer to postpone the interview tomorrow, but the officer informed her that he had been asked by his superior to do the statement-recording tomorrow,” Wee claimed in a Facebook post last night.
ADSHe also questioned MCMC’s apparent rush to question Wong, highlighting that today is also a public holiday commemorating the National Day.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong“MCMC must explain what is so ‘urgent’. Tomorrow (today) is a public holiday, how is (Wong) expected to rush back to Cyberjaya?” he pressed.
According to an image of an MCMC notice attached to Wee’s post, Wong is being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 on abuse of network services and facilities.
Earlier in June, Wong was questioned and had her phone confiscated by police after raising concerns about Putrajaya’s mobile data collection project.
Wong had taken issue with MCMC’s order for telecommunication companies to provide detailed records about their users’ phone and internet usage.
At the time, MCA deputy president Mah Hang Soon had urged the government to “calmly respond” to public criticism instead of treating dissenters as their enemies.
The Urban Renewal Bill, which seeks to establish the Urban Renewal Act, has faced fierce criticism from government and opposition MPs as well as concerned residents.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming tabled the bill for its first reading in the Dewan Rakyat on Aug 21, with its second reading having taken place on Aug 28.
Debates and voting for the bill, however, have been postponed to the next Dewan Rakyat meeting in October, with the DAP minister assuring that some improvements to the proposed legislation will be introduced. - Mkini
