Mca Leader Zooms In On Businessperson S Dap Status After Criticism
An MCA leader has zoomed in on a businessperson's status in the DAP after the latter complained police reports were lodged against him for criticising MCA's Deputy National Unity Minister Ti Lian Ker.
Yesterday, businessperson Danny Ng (above) complained three of Ti's staff lodged police reports against him for merely criticising Ti's management of funeral homes which faced difficulties operating during the Covid-19 "total lockdown" as they were not listed as "essential services".
However, MCA ethnic relations and religious affairs bureau chief Cally Ting said the fact that Ng failed to reveal his status as a DAP member showed that he was guilty conscious.
"'If he has nothing to hide and if he thinks what he did was correct, then why was he telling the media that he is only an ordinary netizen and not a politician?
"Why is he hiding his political background?" Ting said.

Ng, who was questioned by Putrajaya police as a result of the reports, confirmed that he is the Bentong DAP publicity secretary.
However, he said his political background had nothing to do with the issue.
"Regardless whether I am a DAP member or not, the question I raised has its basis.
"The way they (MCA) responded is not fair to me. I am only expressing my own views, it has nothing to do with my party membership," Ng told Malaysiakini.
He had complained about the police report during a press conference yesterday.
Ng said he did inform members of the media about his DAP membership.
He added that he has now settled in Kuala Lumpur and was not a full-time politician.
Ng also questioned if MCA was going to check the political background of everyone who criticises the government.
He gave the example of a petition calling for International Trade and Industry Minister Azmin Ali's resignation for his handling of the "total lockdown" which had garnered more than 100,000 signatories.
"Is MCA going to check the political background of all the petitioners?" Ng said. - Mkini
