Maszlee Draws Up Post Pandemic Edu Policies Moots On Demand E Learning
How does Netflix-style on-demand video lessons for school children sound?
This was among several education policy suggestions made by Simpang Renggam MP Maszlee Malik (above) for the post-pandemic world.
The former education minister told reporters today he was also suggesting guidebooks for parents overseeing children who have to undertake distance learning.
Schools are set to reopen in some states next month. Putrajaya said students will attend school on a weekly rotation to cut down the student volume by half.
Those who are not attending in-person classes will have to follow lessons online. The vast majority of students in the country are not vaccinated against Covid-19.
Maszlee said he drew up his "Education and Covid-19 pandemic: Solutions for Malaysia" paper, which he revealed was a long-term comprehensive plan, because the previous government headed by Muhyiddin Yassin didn't do so.
"I'm aware that asking questions or appealing to the government won't get us anywhere. I designed a policy statement and plans for the new government to move forward," he added.
Maszlee said he has submitted his 65-page policy proposal to Education Minister Radzi Jidin and Higher Education Minister Noraini Ahmad. He said he has not received any feedback from either.
Maszlee, who was a university lecturer before entering politics, said he was undeterred and will submit more suggestions from time to time.
He added that he made such efforts because he was heeding the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decree for all MPs to work together.
"I have informed the government of my willingness to work with them," Maszlee said. - Mkini
