Malaysian Ngos Cry Foul Over Agc S Double Standard When Dealing With Seditious Acts Of Independent Muslim Preachers
The judicial system has proven that it will take no action against seditious and defamatory hate speech and postings directed to the non-Muslims in this country.
(Focus Malaysia) – THE Global Human Rights Federation (GHRF) alongside 61 coalition of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) – including from Sabah and Sarawak as well as concerned Malaysians – will be handing over a memorandum to Attorney-General Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh on Monday (April 1).
The event which will take place at the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) in Putrajaya will be led by GHRF’s president S. Shashi Kumar who strongly urged the AG to act against rogue Islamic preachers who have been insulting and denigrating other non-Muslim faiths and beliefs causing racial disharmony in Malaysia.
Such preachers include Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu, Firdaus Wong Wai Hung, Ustaz Syakir Nasoha, Ustaz Idris Sulaiman, to name a few.
Despite numerous police reports made against them by GHRF with sufficient evidence, Shashi claimed that no pro-active measures have been taken to reprimand these preachers to-date with cases brought up against them being rampantly classified as No Further Action (NFA) by the AGC.
“There must not be double standards when dealing with seditious acts committed by Muslims and non-Muslims whereby immediate action is taken with hefty punishments meted out on non-Muslims charged with insulting Islam,” he lamented in a statement to FocusM.
Global Human Rights Federation (GHRF) president S. Shashi Kumar
“On the contrary, no action is taken against Muslims who commit the same offence against non-Muslims”. Why such double standards by the AGC?”
Such development, according to Shashi, has outraged non-Islamic practitioners in this country, leading to them losing faith in the government which should be protecting its citizen as a whole.
After all, Article 8(1) of the Federal Constitution states that “all persons are equal before the law and entitled to the equal protection of the law” while Article 7 by Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948 (UDHR) clearly outlines that “all are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law”.
