Mahb Disappointed Over Fresh Aerotrain Disruption At Klia
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has expressed disappointment in the latest disruptions to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Aerotrain service that occurred yesterday.
In a statement today, the airport operator acknowledged concerns regarding Aerotrain disruptions, affirming the company's commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient service.
“We are equally disappointed, considering that the Aerotrain had just undergone a scheduled two-week maintenance involving all contractors.
"I have been made to understand by the Aerotrain’s project coordination lead, Alstom Transport Systems Malaysia Sdn Bhd, that the cause of yesterday's incident was a dislodged current collector device (CCD) that triggered a loss of power to the train.
"In our ongoing discussions, Alstom has agreed to provide a more detailed explanation regarding the dislodged CCD,” said MAHB managing director Izani Ghani.
“I have also requested that Alstom thoroughly investigate and vigilantly work with our own engineering teams during the daily train maintenance hours to identify potential risks," he added.

Aerotrain services resumed 24-hour services yesterday following maintenance works that were completed between Aug 18 and 31.
A post on the KLIA Facebook said that the power trip incident at 1.36pm yesterday caused a temporary halt to one of the trains.
"All passengers were safely exited via the central platform walkway according to our standard operating procedure.
"The other aerotrain continued operating as normal during this time and passenger transfers between the main and satellite terminals have not been interrupted," the post read.
Calls for Loke to step down
MCA Youth secretary-general Saw Yee Fung said Transport Minister Anthony Loke should resign over Aerotrain service disruptions.

Transport Minister Anthony LokeADSShe said that there have been five service disruptions since the relaunch of the Aerotrain on July 1.
Commenting on the latest disruption, she said Loke should be held responsible for the "embarrassing" incident.
"It must be emphasised that the transport minister's failure to formulate solutions and create a renewal plan to deal with this ongoing service disruption is shameful, as it not only inconveniences passengers but also affects the country’s image.
"What is the point of spending RM456 million of the people’s money to upgrade the Aerotrain if it is constantly experiencing breakdowns?
"Will the government continue to evade responsibility by blaming different parts for each service disruption?" she said in a statement today.
She added that it was clear that the issues were not due to a technical fault, but rather Loke's failures as a minister.
"How can the people expect him to manage the country's transport system if the Aerotrain system is not managed well?" she asked.
The Aerotrain was relaunched on July 1 after nearly 28 months of suspension due to the rehaul.
The rehaul saw the replacement of its ageing fleet and infrastructure under MAHB’s RM742 million Airport Regeneration Plan. - Mkini
