Macc Completes Probe On Ismail Sabri Seeks To Forfeit Rm170m
The MACC said it has completed its investigation into alleged graft involving former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and is seeking to seize RM170 million in cash.
Ismail Sabri was being investigated under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
It is understood that the probe is related to the expenditure and procurement for promotional activities under the Keluarga Malaysia initiative during his tenure as prime minister from August 2021 to November 2022.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said that the deputy public prosecutor has agreed to apply to forfeit RM170 million in cash that was obtained during the agency’s investigations.
“In this case, we have completed our investigation, and (the investigation papers) are now with the deputy public prosecutor.
“The information I received is that so far, the DPP has agreed to file within the next two weeks, firstly to forfeit the RM170 million.
“So it is up to him (Ismail Sabri) to challenge our application,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Former prime minister Ismail Sabri YaakobAzam said that MACC has yet to decide if it will pursue any criminal charges against the Bera MP.
“Regarding criminal charges, this has not yet been decided and I am awaiting word from the DPP,” he said.
Celebrity Jovian Mandagie set to be quizzed
On May 22, the MACC confirmed that Ismail Sabri had declared his assets to the MACC, as part of the probe into alleged graft in his Keluarga Malaysia public relations campaign.
Azam, at that time, said that the declaration was submitted to the MACC on Feb 10.
The commission had also recorded statements from a total of 57 individuals to facilitate its probe.
Ismail Sabri’s ex-son-in-law, celebrity fashion designer Jovian Mandagie, was also set to provide a statement to MACC in Jakarta, Indonesia, this month.

Jovian MandagieAzam previously said that his officers had gotten in touch with Jovian, who was expected to provide a statement after Hari Raya Haji.
