In a statement, MACC said two individuals would be brought to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow.
It is learnt that the other individual is businessman Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad.
The arrests come several days after former prime minister and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin was questioned by MACC over contracts awarded under JanaWibawa, a post-Covid programme to help highly rated Bumiputera contractors affected by the pandemic.
The investigation also resulted in MACC freezing the bank accounts owned by Bersatu.
Muhyiddin and other Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders have condemned the allegations, calling them part of a tactic to financially deprive the opposition coalition of funds ahead of the six state elections to be called this year.
Addressing the Dewan Rakyat last week, Muhyiddin lashed out at what he said was a “witch-hunt” by Anwar Ibrahim’s administration against PN.
“They call us thieves and pirates so that the people will not support us, but I believe that the PN wave we have already witnessed will continue flooding the country.
“There will be a backlash. This is the sentiment of the people who see the government’s antics as malicious,” he said.
Also in the Dewan Rakyat last week, Wan Saiful spoke of a smear campaign by the government against opposition leaders through corruption investigations brought against them.
“As far as the PH-BN (Barisan Nasional) government is concerned, it does not matter if (the allegations) are right or wrong. What matters is to spread slander first with the aim of tarnishing our image and giving a bad perception of Bersatu and PN.
“This is a diversion tactic, because this PH-BN government is desperate to cover up their failure to solve the people’s problems, as well as the widespread practice of nepotism in the administration,” Wan Saiful said.
