Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam took potshots at Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin after the latter mocked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
This comes after Muhyiddin accused Anwar of resorting to “silat” in a desperate attempt to free himself after becoming entangled in his own “web” over his recent overseas trips.
“I recommend for Muhyiddin to take a break. Resolve your court case and those involving Bersatu.
“Most importantly, convince your son-in-law to return to Malaysia and face his corruption charges,” Lokman (above) said in a statement today.
In an interview with Malaysiakini, Muhyiddin berated Anwar for his recent official trips, spanning three continents and involving five countries.
Without mincing words, he also told Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil not to be “stupid”.

“Then the prime minister (again) responded to the minister. What does that mean? He (Anwar) only wants to find a way out of the trap that he created,” said the former prime minister.

Unimpressed with Muhyiddin’s choice of words, Lokman reminded the former of his own party members’ blunders in the past.
Taking Bersatu supreme council member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal as an example, the Umno leader reminded Muhyiddin of the Machang MP’s idea in 2020 for the government to print more money for the people to spend.
“Have you forgotten the former deputy youth and sports minister’s ‘auto stupid’ idea of printing more money to rejuvenate the economy?
“And recently, another one of your party leaders superseded the Perikatan Nasional supreme council by stating that you are the sole PM nominee for PN in the next general election,” he stated.
Bersatu supreme council member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad KamalLokman was referring to an interview with Bersatu vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who told Malaysiakini that Muhyiddin is the sole nominee for the prime minister’s job from the opposition and that others should stop dreaming.
In response, PAS spiritual leader Awang Hashim said the Islamist party was more fit to lead PN.
“In terms of leadership qualifications, I believe PAS is more suitable to lead. First, we have more seats and stronger grassroots machinery nationwide, so this needs to be seriously considered.
“Although PAS (leaders) only hold deputy positions within PN, our track record in Parliament is more significant, as are our community efforts and other initiatives,” he said. - Mkini
