Loh S Ex Husband Charged With Causing Her Grievous Hurt

Loh Siew Hong and Muhammad Nagahswaran Muniandy divorced in 2021.PETALING JAYA: The former husband of Loh Siew Hong has been charged in the Sungai Petani sessions court with causing her grievous hurt four years ago.
Muhammad Nagahswaran Muniandy is alleged to have committed the offence at a house in Taman Ria, Sungai Petani in Kedah at about 12pm on March 3, 2019.
He was charged for domestic violence under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which prescribes punishment of up to 20 years in jail and a fine or whipping.
Section 326A states that any person found guilty of committing the offence on his spouse during the subsistence of their marriage shall be punished with imprisonment for up to twice the term prescribed for under Section 326.
Muhammad, represented by lawyer Naim, claimed trial before sessions court judge Roslan Hamid.
The judge imposed bail of RM10,000 and also ordered the accused to refrain from approaching Loh or any other witnesses pending the disposal of the case.
Roslan also fixed the case for mention on Aug 13.
Deputy public prosecutor Zulfadly Hassan prosecuted.
Meanwhile, lawyer Shamser Singh Thind said he will be holding a watching brief for Loh during the trial.
Muhammad and Loh’s divorce was finalised on Sept 23, 2021.
Muhammad is said to have taken their children to Perlis, where he unilaterally converted them to Islam on July 7, 2020.
The 15-year-old twin girls and an 11-year-old boy were placed under the care and control of preacher Nazirah Nanthakumari Abdullah.
Loh took out a habeas corpus application in the High Court in February last year. She named Nazirah and a religious NGO, where the children were being kept, as respondents.
The application was allowed by Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah on Feb 21 last year, paving the way for a reunion between the mother and her children.
In March 2022, Loh filed a judicial review application to challenge the children’s unilateral conversion.
However, on May 11 this year, Justice Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh ruled that her children were still Muslims despite being unilaterally converted into the faith by their father.
Loh’s appeal to the Court of Appeal will be heard on Sept 26. - FMT
