Let Rejected Contract Doctors Reapply Urges Mma

A recent rally by a contract doctors group who have demanded transparency in the criteria and selection of contract doctors and equal treatment with those in permanent positions.PETALING JAYA: Contract doctors whose applications for permanent positions were rejected on a technicality should be allowed to reapply, the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) said today.
MMA president Dr Koh Kar Chai said some contract doctors had complained that their applications were rejected without any reason given.
“If there were any technical reasons for rejecting their applications, they should be allowed to reapply” while the Public Services Commission (PSC) should also give their reasons for rejecting those applications and provide an avenue for an appeal, Koh said.
He said feedback received by the MMA showed that of the 533 doctors who applied, some had not included their Malaysian Medical Council registration details as this requirement was only made mandatory later.
This has “caused a discrepancy” in the application process, Koh said.He added that the section on choosing a field of specialisation had very limited options to select from, while others claimed that their application may have been affected because they did not include their CGPA marks.
Many contract doctors were also upset that their applications for permanent posts have been rejected without any reason being given, he said, adding that they were in the dark as to whether they could appeal against the decision.
On Saturday, FMT reported that some doctors who emailed the PSC, were told to resubmit some of the documents. They also called for greater transparency in the process. - FMT
