Lembah Pantai Mp Wants Mcmc To Block Online Gambling Sites

In the wake of the recent controversy over a Hari Raya video promoting an online gambling site, Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil has called on the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to block all such sites.
Fahmi said the issue of online gambling is becoming more and more widespread until various promotional videos were made that touch the sensitivity of Muslims, especially during Ramadan.
"The question is: Why are so many online gambling websites (online casinos) still operating?"
"Is making an online gambling promotion video the only mistake?" he questioned in a Facebook post.
Fahmi asked the MCMC why it didn't prevent access to all these illegal online gambling websites.
"Is this online gambling site server in the country or outside? What action will be taken?" the MP said, who went on to tag the MCMC in his post.

"How many Malaysians - especially Muslims - are trapped due to this online gambling?" he asked.
Dang Wangi district police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah has just announced that three individuals have been arrested in connection with two more Aidilfitri-themed videos promoting online gambling activities.
He said the suspects, aged 21 to 42, were detained around the capital after police detected two more videos promoting online gambling, lasting 30 seconds and 48 seconds respectively, yesterday.
"All suspects will be remanded today and investigated in accordance with Section 504 of the Penal Code, Section 233 (1) of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 4 (1) (g) of the Common Gambling House Act 1953," he said.


Yesterday he said that the key suspect in the production of the original Raya video that promotes online gambling had been remanded for four days to facilitate police investigation.
That suspect, aged 35 and known as "Ah Hoe", was arrested with four others.
With the arrest of the five individuals, the police had so far arrested 18 individuals as part of the investigation into the first video. - Mkini
