Leave Anwar Waythamoorthy Pens Open Letter To Govt Parties
After mounting a legal challenge to question the legitimacy of Anwar Ibrahim’s premiership, P Waythamoorthy penned an open letter today urging parties in the coalition government to rethink their position and consider quitting.
Waythamoorthy said the party leaders have to decide now, as Anwar had allegedly misled them into believing that he was entitled to be the prime ministerial candidate after the 15th general election.
“This is no trivial matter. The trust of the rakyat and the legitimacy of the government rest on loyalty and faithfulness to the Federal Constitution.
“Each of you is now at a crossroads. Will you continue to stand behind an individual who has lost credibility and who has misled the nation at its most pivotal moment?
“Or will you take a principled stand in defence of the Federal Constitution and in honour of your oaths of office as MPs and as members of the cabinet?” the Malaysian Advancement Party (MAP) president said.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s cabinetThe letter was addressed to the Umno, Amanah, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, and DAP chiefs.
‘Rakyat shall be the judge’
Waythamoorthy further claimed that the rakyat would punish the parties at the next election if they fail to take action against Anwar.
“Your decision will carry significant weight in the eyes of the nation.
“Remaining silent or continuing to endorse Anwar as prime minister is nothing less than betrayal. It makes you complicit in deception, an accomplice to the lie.
“And make no mistake - the rakyat will neither forgive, nor will they forget,” he said.
On Tuesday, Waythamoorthy filed an originating summons against Anwar at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, claiming that Anwar’s status as MP and prime minister is unconstitutional.

Waythamoorthy seeks a declaration that Anwar’s disqualification as a member of the August House “was never revoked” by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in accordance with Article 48(3) of the Federal Constitution.
In response to the claim, the Attorney-General’s Chambers then issued a statement saying there was no issue of Anwar being disqualified as an MP and prime minister.
It said this was because the royal pardon granted by the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong stated that Anwar had been fully pardoned and was regarded as a person who had never committed any offence. - Mkini
