Bersatu associate wing's information chief S Subramaniam is asking Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi whether he would file a defamation suit against political blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, better known as RPK.
This is after the blogger claimed that Zahid received an RM67 million bribe in the controversial littoral combat ship (LCS) project.
"On the nomination day for last year’s general election, Zahid said he would file a defamation suit against Raja Petra.
"However, as far as we know, there has not been any notice of summons submitted to the blogger.
"So, we want to know when Zahid will sue Raja Petra to uphold the truth that his allegations are untrue and slanderous," he told Malaysiakini.
Bersatu associate wing's information chief S SubramaniamOn Nov 5, Zahid, who is also the Umno president, told reporters that he was ready to sue Raja Petra.
"Before making an accusation, he needs to have evidence or documents to back up his claims.
"Otherwise, I will file a lawsuit and I will ask my lawyers to take legal action against him," said Zahid at the time.
Raja Petra previously accused Zahid of receiving bribes from project contractors in eight payments between 2012 and 2013.
He claimed the transaction was facilitated through money changers in Singapore and Malaysia.
Following this, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said the commission would meet Raja Petra before deciding whether to summon Zahid for questioning regarding the LCS contract.
Blogger Raja Petra KamarudinAzam also said the MACC needs to examine the obtained documents first.
The MACC team assigned to meet Raja Petra, who is believed to be in England, would meet the blogger at a location outside the country agreed upon by both parties.
Azam said the location and time had not been confirmed but stated that the meeting, which is part of the MACC probe into the LCS case, would not necessarily take place in the UK. - Mkini
