Labuan Pbs Hails Its Women S Chief As Labuan Corp Board Member
Labuan Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) today welcomed the appointment of its divisional women chief Herin Lumpisau to Labuan Corporation's board of directors effective Nov 30.
PBS vice-president Peter Mak said the appointment of Herin (above) showed the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to be inclusive and one that listened to the people.
“Labuan PBS is grateful for the appointment of Datin Herin as a member of the board of directors of Labuan Corporation, an agency under the Federal Territories (FT) Ministry.
“In this regard, we record our utmost thanks and appreciation to FT Minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa for this appointment and his willingness to listen to our concern for a more inclusive representation in Labuan’s local authority,” he said.
Mak said Labuan PBS also thanked PBS president and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Maximus Ongkili, for raising his concerns with the FT Minister.
He is optimistic that Herin, who is also a PBS Wanita central exco member, will serve to the best of her ability for the good and well-being of Labuan and its residents.
The recent appointment of Labuan Corporation’s advisory council for the next two years erupted into controversy when the new line-up showed no representative from the Kadazan-Dusun-Murut (KDM) community.
Mak, who is also PBS Labuan chief, cried foul over the exclusion of the KDM community in the council, saying it was not inclusive and reflective of the racial composition of the population.
