Kula Segaran Justifies His Racist Speech
(FMT) – Human Resources Minister M Kula Segaran has defended his speech urging Indian voters in Rantau to back Pakatan Harapan’s Dr Streram Sinnasamy.
Kula claimed that his speech was twisted and taken out of context by Barisan Nasional trolls working overtime.
“I spoke to the Indians who have ditched BN. Many after my speech felt happy with what I had articulated.
“I never run down other races, but fault me for empowering my own and telling them who will resolve their woes.
“Only people who are narrow-minded and with self-interest will disagree with me,” he said in a Facebook post.
In the 58-second clip, which caught former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin’s attention, Kula was seen addressing a crowd at a ceramah and was heard saying that he would be embarrassed if the Indian voters did not back Streram.
“Streram is from our community. We are of the same blood. What will happen if we do not support our own community?” the Ipoh Barat MP said.
He also claimed that the Indian community would never approach ministers from other races to resolve their problems.
“This is because they (Indians) feel happy when they go to a Tamil (Indian) minister,” he said.
The DAP politician also spoke of his preference to eat at Indian restaurants when he visits Rantau.
“We go to Tamil (Indian) shops. Why? Because this is our community.”
Kula said all he had mentioned was that many Indians had contributed to the development of Malaysia but MIC through Maika Holdings “robbed the poor Indians”.
Maika was a company set up in 1983 as an investment vehicle for MIC, raising millions from some 66,400 members of the Indian community, mostly low-income earners.
Kula said the company had raised RM130 million but due to mismanagement, it ran at a loss and closed down.
“If it had been properly managed, over 10,000 Indians would have found employment in Maika.
“I said that the candidate for PH is an Indian who understands us, so it is our duty to vote for PH,” he said.
During his speech at the ceramah, Kula said he had also brought up the case of the RM10 million BN candidate Mohamad Hasan had sent through a money changer to buy property in London.
“Why not via banks, why not buy houses in Malaysia and why not invest in Rantau? Many here don’t even have a roof over their head.
“If we Indians don’t vote PH’s Indian candidates, then how can we have our PM appointing four Indian ministers?” he said, urging the public to note the lies spread by BN.
