Kota Kinabalu Becomes 28th Covid 19 Red Zone After Recording 42 Cases
CORONAVIRUS | Kota Kinabalu district in Sabah has become the 28th area to be declared a Covid-19 red zone
In a statement posted on social media, the Health Ministry said the district has been added into the list as the number of cases recorded there surpassed 40
Based on statistics of Covid-19 positive cases tabulated as of noon yesterday, Kota Kinabalu has 42 positive cases
Sabah's Minister of Health and People's Wellbeing Frankie Poon posted on Facebook that two of the 42 patients were fatalities while 18 have already recovered
Tawau has the most cases in Sabah with 79 cases and 21 recoveries and one death, while Lahad Datu is approaching the red zone with 39 cases, although it's worth noting that 28 of them are recoveries
Overall, Sabah has recorded 288 cases with 135 recoveries and four fatalities
Based on the ministry's classification of zones, areas that have 40 or more cases are considered red zones. The other zones are green (zero cases), yellow (between one to 20 cases), and orange (21 to 40 cases)
The three zones with the highest number of Covid-19 cases are Lembah Pantai (592), Hulu Langat (446) and Petaling (366)
The total number of cases stands at 5,182 with 2,766 (53.4 percent) of the total number of patients having recovered and 84 (1.6 percent) having succumbed to the disease
Thus far, the state which has the most red zones is Selangor with six (Petaling, Hulu Langat, Gombak, Klang, Sepang and Hulu Selangor); followed by Kuala Lumpur (Cheras, Kepong, Lembah Pantai and Titiwangsa) and Johor (Batu Pahat, Johor Baru, Kluang and Muar)
Other states with red zones are Malacca (Jasin and Melaka Tengah); Negri Sembilan (Rembau and Seremban); Perak (Hilir Perak and Kinta); Kelantan (Kota Baru); Pahang (Jerantut and Kuantan); Sabah (Tawau and Kota Kinabalu); and Sarawak (Kuching and Kota Samarahan). - Mkini
