Kit Siang King S Wishes Ignored War Cry Hints At Sheraton Move Redux

Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has been accused of ignoring the wishes of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who hoped there would not be another political turmoil during his reign.
Calling him the “real power behind the opposition leader”, Lim Kit Siang said the Bersatiu president had made a “declaration of war” in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
According to the DAP veteran, Muhyiddin’s speech made it clear that Perikatan Nasional (PN) wanted the upcoming six state elections to be a “mini-parliamentary election”.
Lim (above left) claimed that if the Muhyiddin-led coalition secured an overwhelming win, it would be used as the basis for another “Sheraton Move to topple Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim”.
“Muhyiddin wants the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong to work with five prime ministers in five years from 2019 to 2024 but the decision will be in the hands of the voters in the six states, not in Muhyiddin’s hands,” he added in a statement this morning.
Witch-hunt
Lim was commenting on Muhyiddin’s warning to Anwar not to assume he would remain in office forever.
The former premier had accused the current government of a witch-hunt against his PN administration, which rose and fell due to political coups
Describing the speech as “jingoistic”, Lim claimed it indicated that Muhyiddin (photo above, right) would not be restrained by Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah’s royal address when opening the 15th Parliament session.
“Muhyiddin was confident of the ‘green wave’ phenomenon, echoing PN leaders who said the coalition could capture the Selangor state government and that PN has a 50-50 chance to capture Negeri Sembilan in the state general elections of Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu to be held in June or July this year,” he added.
On Monday, Sultan Abdullah told Parliament he hoped not to swear in another prime minister before his five-year reign ends next year.
The monarch quipped he is the first ruler to have had four prime ministers and recalled how Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s resignation from the post in 2020 forced him to intervene in national politics.
Meanwhile, Lim said Muhyiddin’s speech had shed light on opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin “failing the Agong’s minimum and maximum tests to ensure political stability for the next five years”.
“I had said that Hamzah failed both the minimum test, to give an undertaking that Anwar would be the last prime minister the 16th Yang di Pertuan Agong will swear in and the maximum test, an undertaking that there would be no change of prime minister for the next five years...
“Now the reason for Hamzah failing both the minimum and maximum tests is clear – for Muhyiddin’s speech was a declaration of war..,” he added. - Mkini
