Khairuddin Pas Has Strayed From Islamic Struggle
PELANGAI BY-ELECTION | PAS' Islamic struggle has strayed from its original cause as the party idolises leaders who utter rude remarks, Khairuddin Aman Razali said.
The former PAS leader cited the "vulgar" remark by Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor during campaigning for the Pelangai by-election.
"It saddens me to see a senior party leader swearing and uttering vulgar words on the political stage and to be greeted with applause and cheers from party members.
"It is even worse that the menteri besar is a Muslim. We need peaceful politics, not one that is based on volatility and vulgarity," Khairuddin (above, left), who is now on Umno's ulama council, told Malaysiakini when met during campaigning at Felda Chemo in Bentong, last night.
Sanusi (above), who is also Perikatan Nasional elections director, urged Pelangai voters to reject Pakatan Harapan and BN, as a sign of protest against the alleged liberalism of the federal government.
Howard LeeSpeaking at a ceramah in Felda Kemasul, Sanusi used an example of a recent incident, where Ipoh Timor MP Howard Lee had allegedly used his own interpretation of a Quranic verse on TikTok.
Lee is being probed by the police over the remark.
In slamming Lee over the matter, Sanusi said the latter was "not even circumcised" to talk about the Quran.
Elaborating, Khairuddin said PAS no longer displays Islamic morality, as it celebrates leaders who utter immoral words.
"To me, PAS has strayed far from Islamic principles. Islam has a creed, laws, and morals.
"(What's happening now) has broken a lot of Islamic laws," he claimed.
