Kedah Invites D1 Contractors To Apply For Projects Worth More Than Rm33m
The Kedah government today called on eligible contractors in the state to apply for projects worth over RM33.46 million that are offered through a special economic stimulus package for Class D1 contractors
Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said a total of 413 projects are being offered to the D1 contractors, previously known as Class F contractors, and the projects would be awarded through balloting
“The balloting for the projects will be conducted from June 9 and the Class D1 contractors can register for the projects online at the State Finance Office's website from 12.01am tonight (June 4)," he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting at Wisma Darul Aman in Alor Setar today
He said the value of each project for Class D1 contractors is between RM20,000 to RM150,000 and the offer is open to contractors that are registered with the district offices
In another development, Muhammad Sanusi said the state government had approved an allocation of RM1.23 million to help teachers in private schools in Kedah, involving 4,146 teachers, whose income was affected following the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO)
“The income of these teachers depend on the fees paid by students since the schools are closed (because of MCO), there is no fee, so there is no salary for the teachers
"The state government will also consider providing assistance to them for coming months if the schools remain closed...the teachers cannot look for others jobs, what happens if the schools can re-open, who are going to teach the students,” he said
He advised the private schools to register with the government to facilitate the process of supervision and channelling of funds to them
On the Kasih Ibu Darul Aman programme (KIDA), Muhammad Sanusi said the programme would continue to be implemented next year
"The KIDA programme has successfully increased the income of participants, with some of them are already out of poverty,” he added
KIDA is one of the state government's poverty eradication initiatives, with each recipient getting RM250 a month for the purchase of essential items, such as rice, cooking oil and flour, at selected stores
