Justice Must Be Served Even If Perpetrator A Royal Akmal Tells Ag
Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh has urged the authorities to act against a Pahang royal who was implicated in a knife attack against a 30-year-old man recently.
“Umno Youth strictly urges the attorney-general to charge the royal and get him a severe punishment if there is a case against him.
“The police mentioned that they have completed their investigations.
“The complainant is Chinese, but I don’t care about his race. What matters is justice must be served even if the perpetrator is of royal descent,” Akmal said in a speech uploaded on TikTok yesterday.
In a police report on June 8, the incident was said to have occurred on May 8 at a nightclub in Kuantan.
It was alleged that the royal invited the victim to sit on a sofa after the latter bumped into the former twice earlier at another entertainment outlet.
The royal was then alleged to have “signalled” to his bodyguard, who then hit the complainant’s head with a glass jug.
The royal was also said to have brandished a folding knife and ostensibly stabbed the victim in the buttocks before a nightclub staffer managed to restrain the royal and his bodyguard.
The victim claims he had to be brought to a hospital afterwards as he suffered significant wounds and massive blood loss due to the stabbing.
Kudos to Pahang crown prince
Akmal, who is also a Malacca state executive councillor, expressed his appreciation to Pahang Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, who had urged the authorities last year to investigate anyone for alleged wrongdoing regardless of their status in society.
“So, based on what the crown prince had said, Umno Youth urges the authorities not to let regular people be victimised in such a cruel manner,” Akmal added.

Pahang Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam ShahLast year, a Pahang royal was implicated in an attack against road construction worker Alias Awang, who was allegedly stabbed and shot at.
Alias told Malaysiakini in September last year that the incident had occurred earlier on June 6, during which he was attacked by around 20 people, including “the son of a Tengku”, who shot at his leg and missed.
Responding to the incident, Tengku Hassanal had called for justice multiple times, stressing that no one, even “royalty”, is above the law.
About two months after Malaysiakini’s initial report, a member of the Pahang royal family, Tengku Eddie Akasya Tengku Abd Rahman, and four other individuals were charged in the Kuantan Magistrate’s Court for injuring a man using a knife.
Tengku Eddie, 21, is a nephew of Pahang ruler, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Meanwhile, former law minister Zaid Ibrahim reminded the government that one of the major reforms the people seek is making the royal households more accountable for their actions.
Calling Akmal’s reminder timely, he also said the government is responsible for ensuring the royals observe the minimum standards of conduct befitting their status.
“The reminder from Umno Youth to the AG and police about equality before the law is timely.
“So often, we hear of assaults and criminal intimidation being perpetrated by members of certain royal households.
“But we have a lackadaisical, almost reluctant response from the police and the AGC in that regard,” he said on X today. - Mkini
