Justice Is A Joke In Malaysia When Najib Can Enjoy Butterscotch Pudding Luxury Life Behind Bars

IN a recent Financial Times (FT) interview with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, it was revealed that the disgraced former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak is enjoying a very comfortable stay in the Kajang Prison.
Instead of facing normal jail conditions, he is being served butterscotch pudding upon his request (from the Pahang royal court, no less) and has a custom-made bed.
While ordinary Malaysians suffer from the consequences of his actions in the 1MDB scandal, Najib seems to be living a life of luxury behind bars.
Sweet life in jail
According to sources, Najib’s prison experience is closer to a holiday than a punishment. He has access to special meals often upon his request and doesn’t have to wear the orange vest for prisoners.
PMX nevertheless came to Najib’s defence by stating that he doesn’t need to be treated harshly because he was once the PM, too.
This raises an important question: does being a former leader mean you get special treatment compared to other Malaysians? Two wrongs don’t make a right.

“I went through that hell also … But do I need then to treat Najib in the same manner? I say no,” justified PMX in his FT interview.
This statement suggests that suffering is only for those who haven’t held high office. While Anwar endured difficult times in prison years ago, he seems more focused on making sure Najib is feeling comfortable. What a joke!
‘Special treatment for the clown’
Najib was infamously depicted as a clown by the satirical artist Fahmi Reza who was arrested by then Najib’s administration.
Ironically, that image went viral worldwide and even helped take down the 10-term former Pekan MP’s government in a stunning landslide electoral defeat that finally broke UMNO’s 60-year grip on Malaysia.

Fahmi Reza and his caricature of incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib RazakNow in typical clown fashion, Najib wants to serve the rest of his time under house arrest because why not? The Court of Appeals has even allowed him to pursue this request.
Let’s not forget that Najib’s prison sentence has already been halved from a dozen years to just six years thanks to a royal pardon. This situation raises serious concerns about special treatment and fairness in Malaysia’s justice system.
Nobody is above the law. But PMX’s support for Najib’s special treatment makes many people question whether anyone is truly accountable for their actions in Malaysia.
By allowing special treatment for someone convicted of stealing billions of ringgit, PMX risks losing public trust in the justice system. His claim that “I’ve no authority to forgive you” while also helping Najib enjoy special treatment is quite ironic.
Public reactions
Many Malaysians are outraged by Najib’s special treatment in prison. The idea that someone who stole so much money can enjoy the royalty’s butterscotch pudding while others face harsh conditions for steaking Milo or bread to feed their starving offspring is simply unacceptable.
As Najib fights his legal battles from what feels like a luxurious prison cell, it seems clear that justice in Malaysia is becoming a joke.
Compared to that of other convicted criminals in prison, Najib’s punishment looks more like a holiday – a clear example of privilege that should worry every citizen.
With PMX’s support and royal pardons available, it appears Malaysia still has much work to do in achieving true fairness and accountability.
As we watch Najib’s situation unfold, one thing is certain: the only thing sweeter than butterscotch pudding is the taste of freedom enjoyed by those like Najib up at the top.
