Johor Dap Veep Bn Has Already Broken Their First Promise

Johor BN has already broken its first promise by failing to install their leader Hasni Mohammad as menteri besar, said Johor DAP vice-chief Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali.
“They are starting their government by breaking a promise. We can expect to see more promises broken soon. It’s not impossible,” said Sheikh Umar in a statement today.
Hasni was the incumbent menteri besar and was repeatedly touted by BN as their “poster boy” during the Johor election campaign, which concluded on March 12.
Despite BN winning handsomely, Hasni was not appointed menteri besar. Instead, Onn Hafiz Ghazi was quietly appointed as Hasni’s successor yesterday.
At the time of writing, BN and Umno have not issued an official statement on the matter.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Umar drew a link between Onn Hafiz and former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court was told in April 2019 that Onn Hafiz received a cheque for RM240,000 from Najib.
According to Onn Hafiz’s testimony, the money was used to finance the Malaysian Digest news website.
Sheikh Umar speculated that Onn Hafiz had backing from Najib - who was convicted for money laundering, criminal breach of trust and abuse of power in 2020 - and this does not bode well for Johor.
“Now that Onn Hafiz is in power, Najib’s legacy - corruption and abuse of power - might come back,” said Sheikh Umar.
Onn Hafiz, 44, is the grandson of third prime minister Hussein Onn and nephew to former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein.
Najib and Hishammuddin are cousins.
During Hishammuddin’s first stint as defence minister (2013-2018), Onn Hafiz served as his political secretary. - Mkini
