Ismail Sabri Pledges A More Comprehensive Covid 19 Strategy

Newly minted Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has pledged a more comprehensive strategy in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
"I will ensure every intervention and effort by the government to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases will be done in a more comprehensive manner.
"It will be done through strategic cross cooperation involving stakeholders, government agencies and private sector to stabilise our healthcare system," he said in his inaugural speech as the premier.
Highlighting the success of Labuan's vaccination drive to bring down the number of new infections to zero and subsequent single digits, Ismail announced that the government has purchased an additional six million vaccine doses which will arrive early next month. 
Noting that the people are suffering during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ismail also promised fundamental changes to help the economy.
He said the focus will be on those who have lost their jobs, have low- or moderate-income, small and medium enterprises and also industries, particularly the tourism sector.

"I will ensure that no Malaysian, regardless of race and religion, will be left out.
"Our effort will not stop there. We will continue to work with the people to develop new economic strategies in order to carry out a number of fundamental changes.
"All of this will be with the intent to strengthen the fundamentals of our country's economy and restore Malaysia's competitiveness as a destination for investors in South East Asia," he said.

Overall, Ismail said the government aims to reduce the long-term negative impact of Covid-19 on the economy with a focus on two main objectives, namely raising the people's purchasing powers and returning the private sector to its role as the country’s main driver of economic growth.
As the ninth prime minister, Ismail pledged that his new government would serve to help Malaysia recover from both the economic and health crisis.
"I pledge to do my best so that the trust placed in me, and my team is not misplaced.
"This intention can only be achieved with the cooperation of the entire public administration which is the backbone of our national administration," he said.
"Let us together as one big Malaysian Family work to return Malaysia to its level of prosperousness we were all once accustomed to.
