PUTRAJAYA: Throughout the conditional movement control order (MCO) imposed in two states and two federal territories, inter-district travel will not be allowed and those who need to travel for work will have to obtain letters of permission from their employers.
While the 14-day conditional MCO for Sabah begins today, the same order will be enforced in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and the federal administrative capital beginning 12.01am tomorrow.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision to enforce the conditional MCO in Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya was because of the spike in positive Covid-19 cases as well as infections.
In Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, cases are on the rise in Klang, Petaling, Gombak and Hulu Langat districts, he added.
In Sabah, Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry also reported an increase in the number of infections.
“Which is why the National Security Council has decided to impose the conditional MCO so that we can contain the infection, ” he said yesterday.
He said that activities in the economic, industrial and manufacturing sectors in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya would be allowed to proceed throughout the conditional MCO.

However, mosques and other places of worship, as well as sports, social, recreation and cultural activities such as wedding receptions and engagement parties will not be allowed.
Schools, institutions of higher learning, kindergartens, nurseries, tahfiz centres and public parks are to remain closed.
Entertainment centres and nightclubs are also not allowed to operate.
For Sabah, other conditions include allowing wet and wholesale markets to open from 6am to 2pm.
Business hours for grocery stores, food outlets, restaurants, hawkers, convenience stores, petrol stations and pharmacies will be from 6am to 6pm.
Hospitals and clinics are allowed to operate 24 hours while operating hours for taxi, e-hailing and delivery services in Sabah will be from 6am to 8pm.
Ismail Sabri said that fisheries, plantation and agriculture sectors in Sabah would be allowed to proceed with their activities.
The business and manufacturing sectors including small-medium enterprises could apply to the Sabah disaster management committee should they want to remain in operation during the conditional MCO, he said. - Star
