Ismail Sabri 59 Factories Ordered To Close During Lockdown
PETALING JAYA: Fifty nine factories have been ordered closed for flouting standard operating procedures since the lockdown began, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
"From June 1 to 9, the compliance operations task force had conducted checks of 268 factories to ensure compliance with the SOP.
"Of this, 75 factories were issued compound notices, while 59 were ordered to close," the senior minister said in a statement on Thursday (June 10).
He said the stern action came after the authorities received complaints that some businesses and factories were operating despite not being listed as essential services under movement control order.
Ismail Sabri also said 907 individuals were detained for breaching SOPs on Wednesday (June 9).
Of this, he said 877 of them were issued compound notices, 28 others were remanded, and two released on police bail.
The most common offences were failing to wear face masks (208), failure to record or register details (148) at premises, not observing physical distancing (123), other than illegal interstate and inter-district travel (147).
Other offences, he said, included failure to comply with movement restriction orders (81), carrying more than permitted number passengers in a vehicle (79), conducting entertainment activities (28), failure of premises to comply with orders (10), and others (83).
Meanwhile, Ismail said the ban on travellers entering Labuan will be extended to June 30, starting June 10.
He also said that three housing areas in Temerloh, Pahang, namely Taman Temerloh Jaya, Taman Temerloh Jaya Indah and Taman Temerloh Makmur, were placed under EMCO from June 12 to 25.
He added the EMCO will also be enforced in Ladang Tereh Mill in Kluang, Johor, for the same period.
In Sabah, the EMCO will be enforced in Lorong Pasir Putih 1, Taman Pasir Putih Fasa 1 and Putatan, from June 12 to 25.
Ismail also said that the EMCO will be implemented in Kampung Kolong 2, Kuching, Sarawak between June 12 and 25.
Terengganu's Kampung Tajin will also come under EMCO for the same period.
In a related development, Ismail said the enhanced MCO will be lifted in Kuala Berang, Terengganu, and Sitiawan, Perak by the end of June 11.
Likewise, in Sabah, the enhanced MCO for Kampung Mook in Kinarut, Papar, Kampung Baru Durok in Keningau, and Kampung Sungai Langgas in Kunak, ends on June 11. - Star
