Is Umno Still In Shell Shock
Since 1999, the then opposition used to present what they would call the ‘alternative budget’ days or weeks before the government presented its budget in Parliament. Tomorrow, the government is going to present its budget in Parliament. Why was Umno’s or Barisan Nasional’s ‘alternative budget’ not presented earlier for debating?
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Umno is turning out to be a huge disappointment. Understandably the 9th May 2018 general election came as a shock to most people, even those in Pakatan Harapan who never saw it coming. But that was six months ago. Umno now has to pick up the pieces and move on.
Umno was formed 72 years ago in 1946 and first tasted power in 1955. After 63 years in power, it is very hard to come to terms with the reality of losing power. But now Umno needs to learn how to be the opposition. And if it does not know how to be an opposition it will never be able to become the government again.
The warning bell that the end is near was first rung in 2008. Umno was already warned back in 2008 that the next general election(s) would be won and lost on the Internet. But Umno’s information chief, Zainuddin Maidin a.k.a. Zam arrogantly boasted that the Internet is not crucial and that “kids use the internet to play games and to look for cheap airline tickets.”
Umno is turning out to be a huge disappointment
The second warning bell was rung in 2013 and in May 2018 Umno and Barisan Nasional were given their red card and were sent off the field. They did not listen in 2008 and 2013 and in 2018 they paid the price for their recalcitrance. And Umno have only themselves to blame.
But that was six months ago. By now Umno should have already picked up the pieces and moved on. But Umno is still in slumber. They have not woken up to the fact they are no longer in power and are now the opposition and should hence act like an opposition.
Umno lacks direction and leadership and is like a headless chicken. If the present leadership cannot do the job then move aside and allow those who can to take over. If Umno has no clue as to what to do then just close down the party. It is painful to see Umno act like the Russian Royal Family in exile still dreaming of taking back power 30 years after the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution.
Why was Barisan Nasional’s ‘alternative budget’ not presented earlier for debating?
What is Umno’s halatuju? What is its mission and vision? Who in the first place has been given the task of speaking on behalf of Umno?

Umno and Barisan Nasional are a write-off. The Umno and Barisan Nasional leaders are wasting the air they are breathing. Tutup sajalah Umno kalua macam ni! Buang masa saja!
