Interpol Yet To Put Up Red Notices On Nicky Liow Jho Low
Nicky Liow is wanted for his involvement in organised crime and money laundering while Jho Low is linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal.PETALING JAYA: Interpol Red Notices for fugitives Nicky Liow and Low Taek Jho, while already approved and issued, have yet to appear on the international police network’s list, said Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
Acryl Sani said that he was unsure why neither Liow or Low – better known as Jho Low – had yet to appear on Interpol’s Red Notice list.
According to The Star, the IGP said the police had made Red Notice applications for both men.
“I have been told, however, that the notices have not appeared. Maybe this is due to certain reasons that I am not clear about,” he told reporters after a walkabout at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) today.
Acryl Sani said he would ask the federal CID director to explain the situation.
“From my understanding, there are certain protocols that need to be complied with in order for the Red Notice to appear,” he said.
A Red Notice is a request to law enforcement agencies around the world to locate and detain persons of interest.
Earlier in April, FMT reported that Interpol had issued Red Notices for Liow and his assistant, Chinese national Niu Zhe.
Liow is wanted for his involvement in organised crime, money laundering, Macau scams, and commercial crimes while Jho Low is linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal. - FMT
